Newborn Photoshoot in Hurst
Oh baby Isabelle, you little cutie!
Another gorgeous newborn session and another beautiful gallery.
Photographing babies at home means that we can also include the family pet, which we did here.
The fact that these guys had the most amazing house meant that we had lots of lovely spots to choose from, both inside and out in the garden.
A lot of clients worry about having photos at home, thinking that we will need lots of space or that they’ll have to spend a week beforehand tidying the house from top to bottom. This just isn’t the case.
For a typical newborn photoshoot at home I’ll start with family photos, usually on a bed or sofa (depending on which has the best natural daylight). That’s one small area to declutter and tidy.
The second area that I’ll need is a small space to set up my white backdrop for the baby shots. This doesn’t need to be huge and will also depend on where has the best levels of daylight, usually in front of a window or patio door. I photograph newborns on a single white duvet (that I bring with me) folded in half on the floor. That’s all the space I need for the individual newborn photos.
So thats one bed/sofa and one small space to fit a single duvet folded in half. Doesn’t sound like a lot does it?
Please don’t let the fact that I come and photograph you at home put you off. Newborn photography is so special and really is something that you’ll look back on fondly for years to come (trust me, I didn’t have it done with my eldest and it is a huge regret of mine). You don’t need to live in a palace or show home, and your house doesn’t need to be spotless. It needs to be comfortable, it needs to be filled with love and the place that you call home.
If anything, home photoshoots often produce the best photos because my clients feel most relaxed there, especially other children. Siblings can sometimes be tricky to engage (especially around 2-3 years of age) so being at home can be a huge advantage where we have access to all of their favourite toys and they feel safe.
It also means that we can include the family pet!
Here are just a few of my favourites from Isabelle’s gallery.
